A History Built On
Trusted Maintenance

Dietsmann, in the shape of its President and CEO, Peter Kütemann first set foot on Angolan soil in April 1984 and won its first contract for the operation and maintenance of Texaco’s Lombo East and Bagre Block 2 in 1986. Dietsmann’s history in Angola had started. Dietsmann Angola hired its first Angolan employees and sent them to the Sumba training school so they could, in time, replace the expatriate technicians.

The employment and training of local workers has always been Dietsmann’s strategy in every country in which the Company is active. So, when a peace settlement in Angola came in sight, Dietsmann proposed the formation of a joint venture for operation and maintenance with Angola’s national oil company, Sonangol. In 1999 Peter Kütemann, Dietsmann’s President and CEO, and Dr.Manuel Vicente, President of Sonangol, signed the agreement for the establishment of SONADIETS – one of the first joint ventures between an international oil services company and a national oil company. Since then SONADIETS has carried out all Dietsmann’s energy facility maintenance activities in Angola.

Between 2001 and 2009

SONADIETS won and executed operation & maintenance  contracts for a number of clients including Sonangol, Esso and Total and for sites including Kizomba A&B, SONANGOL Block 2&3 and KCA DEUTAG Block 14.

In June 2010

Total E&P Angola awarded SONADIETS the Maintenance Engineering and long-term General Maintenance Contracts for Total’s new state-of-the-art FPSO (Floating Production, Storage & Offloading) facility ‘Pazflor’.

In February 2011

The Company’s state-of-the-art training centre was opened in the Morro-Bento district of Angola’s capital city, Luanda. And in March SONADIETS’ new offices in the centre of Luanda were officially opened.

SONADIETS’ continuing high standard of execution of the Pazflor FPSO General Maintenance contract led Total E&P Angola to awarding it the contract for Pazflor’s highly-sophisticated sister deep water FPSO – ‘Clov’. This contract, which was signed in August 2012, entrusts Sonadiets with not only the General Maintenance but also the Maintenance Engineering Plan review and the Maintenance Procedure edition.

In 2012

SONANGOL P&P became SONADIETS third major client with the awarding of the contract for Blocks 2 and 3.

During 2013

The expansion and/or extension of ongoing contracts resulted in a significant increase in SONADIETS’ maintenance activities.

In July 2014

Repsol Angola awarded SONADIETS an external technical support contract for the Pre-Salt Block 22 field off the coast of Angola. Drilling activities are scheduled to start during the 4th quarter of 2014.
